Meet Our Team

Dr. Todd Lykins DVM

Dr. Todd is a lifelong resident of the Champaign area.  He earned his DVM in 1983 from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  From 1983 to 1998, Dr. Todd managed a number of local veterinary clinics, but missed the true doctor-patient relationship.  He elected to focus on one hospital, which led him to open The Pet Pro in Champaign in 1998.

Dr. Todd has enjoyed every minute of getting to know each client and their furry family members.  When Dr. Todd is busy with clients, his highly qualified staff can provide you with detailed answers to your questions.  He loves bringing his dogs to work every day.  They are truly part of the Pet Pro team.  Many people just stop by to meet his pets, known as Snow Angels (English Cream golden retrievers).

Dr. Todd lives in Mahomet, Illinois with his wife, Gina Lykins RN. He has a daughter named Taylor.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and taking care of his pets, which include a number of wonderful dogs.

Gina Lykins RN

Yes, this truly is a 'family practice',  Gina has been working at The Pet Pro since 1998. Prior to this, she worked at Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL in Pediatrics for 2 years, then Adult Medicine for 8 years.  Gina enjoyed the 'people' side of medicine, but has also always been drawn to animal care.  It seemed a right fit to cross over to animal medicine, so that she could work with Todd and also bring their daughter (Taylor) to work each day when she was growing up.

And, of course, she loves the ability to bring her dogs to work.  How perfect is that?? It does not get any better as far as Gina is concerned.  Much like the human pediatric patient, the nurse must rely upon the parents for their observation skills of their much loved family member.  Working with these patients, whether human, canine or feline, is most interesting to Gina, as well as the entire staff at The Pet Pro.

Taylor Lykins

Taylor is the daughter of Dr. Todd and Gina Lykins.  She began coming to the clinic to 'work' at the mere age of 3 years of age in 1998.  Now all these years later, she lives in Missouri, but is able to work remotely as a member of The Pet Pro. She is currently working to obtain her Masters in Public health.  Taylor had initially wanted to follow in her grandfather and her father's footsteps and be a veterinarian.

After being diagnosed at the age of 17 with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis, she was fortunate to have been able to have a stem cell transplant in May of 2016.  Taylor has done wonderfully.  She is MS symptom-free since having the transplant.  She received the most amazing care from the nurses at Northwestern in Chicago. Their empathy and compassion caused her to change her life's course and her want to work on the human side of health, as opposed to the animal side. However, while she is going through her master's program for public health, she will remain working with us here at The Pet Pro.  We are so fortunate to have her as part of the team.  Therefore, Taylor now has over 25 years experience at The Pet Pro!

Joanna

Joanna has been with us at The Pet Pro for the last 5 years. She does a multitude of jobs, starting with her role at the reception desk. There, she organizes files for your pet's records, schedules appointments, relays medication and treatment information to clients, and is usually the first point of contact when you walk into The Pet Pro. In addition to those responsibilities, she assists Dr. Todd with patient care, and helps streamline veterinary and grooming appointments for our other staff members.

In her personal life, Joanna chooses to spend time with her husband Bryon, their dog Maya, and their cats Ricker and Belle. Joanna also enjoys going to see shows for the band her husband is in.

Megan

Megan is our groomer here at The Pet Pro, and has been working with animals for over 15 years. She is known for her amazing smile, and cares deeply about all the beloved animals she sees. With her optimistic personality and gentle demeanor, your pet can feel at ease while getting groomed by Megan.

When Megan is not here at The Pet Pro, she chooses to spend her time with her children and pets outdoors. Megan currently has 3 lovely kids, as well as 2 cats and 2 dogs to keep her busy. In fact, the two puppies on the left are her French Bulldogs, Rocket and Groot.

Jillian

Jillian has been with The Pet Pro since late 2022, and does pet bathing and grooming. She has been working with and around animals since she was just 16 years old. Jillian is knowledgeable of the pets she sees, and remembers each unique personality she comes across. Showing constant care and energy in what she does, your pet is in good hands with Jillian.

At home, Jillian has her beloved 'Goose', a goofy pitbull mix she rescued. When she is not spoiling Goose, Jillian likes to kick back with a good book and relax.

Charity

Charity is our 'behind-the-scenes' staff member that makes sure The Pet Pro is as clean as can be! She has 19 years of experience as a cleaner, and with her love for animals, she makes sure your pet is in a well-maintained and safe environment. Charity loves to spend her time at home with her three children, and she also has several pets. Lola, Babs, and Cookie are the names of her 2 dogs and 1 cat. In addition, she also has 4 grandkids.

When she has the free time, Charity is a painter, a self-taught crocheter, and an avid reader. She loves to be outdoors when possible
